The CLGFC under 14 Connacht C’ship B clash from Ballyhaunis Gaa grounds Sat 13th April featured Sligo and Roscommon.

Roscommon Management clearly issued some effective instructions and encouragement to their troops in the lead up to the final and they responded magnificently with a commanding display throughout the entire game.

Roscommon had the wind at their backs in the opening half, Cold and windy conditions, Ciara Fallon stormed into the fray and registered the first point for the Rossies 4 minutes into the game.

Minutes later Mikayla Dunne raised the white flag for the Rossie’s second score. Sligo responded well with 1- 01 to put them 2 in front. The was a short lived lead for Sligo as Shauna Walsh hit the target Raising the first green flag for the primrose and blues, minutes later Alison Corrigan blasted the back of the net  and raised a second green flag for the Roscommon side.

Roscommon now had the momentum and they made it count with Shauna Walsh completing the first half scoring with her second goal.   Roscommon 3-02, Sligo 1-03.

“Nothing to be taken for granted was the message at half time.”

The second half was a very one sided affair as Rossies pinned Sligo back into their own half.

Ciara Dowd kicking over a free, Referee Rebecca Mc Philbin wasn’t happy and so Ciara had to take it again converting the opening score, with Roscommon Mid fielder Sally O Hara raising the white flag just minutes later.

Caoimhe Cregg was through on goal when Sligo backs brought her to ground. Referee Rebecca Mc Philbin awarded a penalty.  Ciara Dowd stepped up to take the penalty and smashed the ball into the bottom left of the Sligo net.

Eirn Mc Dermott, Captain Kelis Curran who played key roles throughout the day made sure the back bone of the Rossies remained solid, Holding Sligo to only one point in the second half.
