Intermediate ladies fall to Wexford in league semi-final.

The ward Bros intermediate ladies renewed their rivalry with Wexford on Sunday last when they went head to head again in the division 3 national league semi-final in Clane co Kildare. This time however it did not prove to be a close affair like the recent meeting in Kiltoom as Wexford ran out easy winners on a scoreline of 5-08 to Roscommon’s 0-09. As the old saying goes “goals win matches” and never was this more in evident than it was here in Clane. Roscommon will be disappointed with their performance but can look back on a very successful league campaign and if the can sort out some of the defensive mistakes they can certainly give the championship a good run. The girls have the Connacht championship to look forward to now which begins with a game against Leitrim at the end of May.

Player Of The Match: Wexford’s mumber Five Rosin Murphy. The Shelmalier girl covered every blade of grass and even chipped in with a goal.

Turning Point: Wexford’s third goal after half time from Siobhan Cloake, it killed off whatever revival Roscommon had been mounting.
