Ward Bros Intermediate ladies latest:

The ward Bros sponsored Intermediate ladies continued their national league campaign on Sunday last when they entertained leinster rivals Meath in an important division 3 fixture at St lomans in Mullingar. This fixture had been postponed originally from the Sunday previous. The Rossites produced a fantastic performance in winning the game on a score line of Roscommon 2-09 Meath 0-12. This leaves the girls in a great position in the league after three league games they have two victories.

Next up for the girls is an away fixture against Wexford in St patricks Park in Enniscorthy next Sunday at 2pm

Roscommon: Helena Cummins, Honor Ennis, Roisin Wynne, Rachel Brady, Niamh Fenney, Amanda McLoone, Sinead Kenny (Capt), Jenny Higgans, Joanne Cregg, Laura Fleming, Jenny Downey, Louise Brady, Shelia Brady, Rebecca Finan and Sinead Farrell. Subs: Sasha Lavin, Shannon Dowd, Colleen Cauneen, Niamh Fleming, Aisling MacAuliffe, Feena Beirne, Aoife Gavin, Rochelle Mullaney and Rachel Fitzmaurice.

A full and detailed report appears elsewhere in this publication.

The games keep coming thick and fast for Michael Finnernan’s charges as the travel to Wexford park on Sunday next to take on the slaneysiders at 2pm in the next round of the league. All support greatly appreciated.

Underage update:

Minor:

Our minor squad travelled south to take on Waterford in a challenge on Wednesday last in Stradbally with the home side prevailing on a score line of 2-15 to 0-08. While the score line might suggest a comfortably victory for the home side, it was anything but as the Roscommon girls battled gamely but just couldn’t manage the scores against a very tuff and physical home defense, add in the fact the girls had travelled a long journey and it was their first challenge since Christmas it was a very useful exercise. Following on from playing Waterford the minor girls take on Offaly next Saturday the 24th in Tubber at 2pm, followed by Clare in Johnstown on Saturday the 3rd March at 1pm. This will bring them up nicely to their forst championship game against Sligo on the 10th March at a Sligo venue.
