Best of Luck to St Mary’s.

Our other representatives – Western Gaels in the intermediate and Kilbride in the senior are out on the 15th and 13th of October respectively, we will have more details on those next week.

Development Update:

As promised the last of the development squads – the U13’s were in action as well a couple of Sundays ago in the Connacht Blitz.

County Roscommon Ladies Football U13 Development program

If you were in Roscommon over the past 6 weeks at Roscommon Community College on a Wednesday evening, you would have been greeted with a pitch full of girls who were invited in to training with county trainers for a development program. This was the first time the maority of these girls would have been involved in something like this and on average there were 90 girls training and the girls were given a taste of the standard which is required to play at county level.

The girls were also given the opportuity to play in the county jersey, with half the panel travelling to the Connacht blitz in Ballyhaunis, where they fielded against both Mayo and Galway teams. The girls showed skills which they had learned and for a first outing, never having faced county teams previously, they showed great passion, skill and determination against the cream of the other counties. The remaining girls played a challenge againt Offaly, where they too got an opportunity to wear the county jersey. This bunch of girls showed  their flair and passion in this game.

This phase of the development is over as all the girls are competing in the U14 Championship, and phase two will commence at the end of September/beginning of October, when hopefully the U14 management team is in place.

We would like to thanks all the parents for bring the girls to training and the games, to Roscommon Community College for the use of their facilities, and to the county board for their support.
